RE: Position on Lockdown Level 3’s implications for Church Gatherings
This statement serves to inform our Partners in terms of the implications for our Church Gatherings under Level 3 of lockdown in South Africa.
This communication is relevant to the month of June. We will adjust as we get new information towards July.
We fully support the combined efforts in South Africa to limit the spread of the virus. We also appreciate that church leaders are recognized as essential services in these difficult times.
Doxa Deo will do everything in our power to be a positive contributor to the physical but also the mental and spiritual health of our nation.
We will gradually begin to reopen our offices and also minister to people there with full compliance to the requirements from government.
We will reopen all our facilities from 01 June 2020 for gatherings of people under 50 at a time but with stringent measures in place as prescribed by the authorities. (Including social distancing, sanitizing, face masks, temperature screening etc.) We will allow people to gather in our facilities under those measures for training, leadership meetings, and ministry. Funerals have been taking place within the limitations as prescribed.
Normal church services on Sundays would not make sense at this point. We will continue to stream our services and encourage people to journey with us from home. The limit of 50 people on a Sunday can be used by some designated campuses for people who do not have internet access, but it will be managed with stringent measures in place. No live worship is allowed for now.
We can also not allow sick or vulnerable people or the elderly to attend because of the risks involved.
Gatherings in homes are not yet permitted and so we will continue to do group life with technological solutions.
Some groups may gather in our facilities where compliance with regulations can be maintained.
We continue to trust God that we will see Acts 2:42-47 realize in our ministries despite these limitations.
Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
